Holland Christian hosted West Ottawa on
Saturday afternoon. With 29 minutes remaining in the first half,
Allyn Anthony took a shot from 20 yards out for an unassisted goal.
The Maroons struck again 15 minutes later when Jake Kammeraad crossed
the ball to the middle and earned a lucky ricochet off of a West
Ottawa defender. The Maroons went into halftime with a 2-0 lead over
the Panthers.
Neither team scored for the first 30
minutes of the second half despite many opportunities for both sides.
In the final minutes, Bryce Eggers added the Maroons' third and final
goal of the day. Holland Christian only took a total of four shots on
goal, but they made the most of them. The Maroons' record currently
sits at 8-1-1. Holland Christian will host a conference match against
Byron Center on Monday, September 15.
