Holland
Christian hosted Caledonia on Thursday in round two of the conference
tournament. Jon Nykamp and Jake Kalkman both scored in the first
quarter, but Caledonia scored three. Holland Christian came back,
however, and took a 6-5 lead into halftime thanks to goals from Luke
Harbottle, Justin Dykgraaf, and a pair from Jon Nykamp.
The
Maroons outscored Caledonia 6-1 in the third quarter, making the
score 12-6 heading into the final quarter. Holland Christian only
scored two goals in the fourth quarter, but the Holland Christian
defense held Caledonia scoreless, and the game ended 14-6.
Jon
Nykamp led the Maroons with four goals and three assists. Jake
Kalkman scored three goals, and Justin Dykgraaf and Luke Harbottle
each scored two. Brad Houskamp had a solid performance in goal,
making nine saves.
Holland
Christian will play again on Tuesday night here at the Holland
Christian turf for the championship.
