Holland
Christian hosted Grand Rapids Catholic Central on Thursday night in
the first round of the tournament. Jon Nykamp, Jake Kalkman, and Joe
Spoelhof all scored in the first quarter, and the Maroons took a 3-1
lead into the second quarter. Allyn Anthony led the Maroons with two
goals in the second quarter to give them an 8-3 lead at halftime.
Justin
Dykgraaf scored two of the Maroons' three goals in the third quarter.
After three quarters of play, Holland Christian led 11-8. Jon Nykamp
finished the game by scoring two goals in the final quarter. In the
end, the Maroons came out on top 16-10.
Jon
Nykamp and Allyn Anthony each scored four goals on seven shots.
Justin Dykgraaf scored three. Brad Houskamp kept the Maroons in the
game by stopping 21 shots at goalie.
Holland
Christian's overall record improves to 14-4 on the season. Holland
Christian's next game will be held at Grand rapids Christian on
Tuesday, May 27, and will be played against Okemos.
