Holland
Christian hosted Grand Rapids Catholic Central on Tuesday for the
Conference Championship. Jon Nykamp and Justin Dykgraaf both scored
in the first quarter. Holland Christian's defense held Catholic
Central scoreless, giving Holland Christian the 2-0 advantage after
the first quarter. Joe Spoelhof opened the scoring in the second
quarter by netting back-to-back goals. Jake Kalkman and Jon Nykamp
each added a goal, and the Maroons took a 6-1 lead after the first
half.
Jon
Nykamp scored two goals in the third quarter. Juniors Joe Spoelhof
and Allyn Anthony had a goal apiece. Holland Christian led 10-4 after
three quarters. Jake Kalkman scored the only goal for the Maroons in
the fourth quarter. Grand Rapids Catholic Central responded with two
goals of their own, but was unable to overcome the deficit. Holland
Christian finished with the 11-6 victory, along with the conference
championship.

Christian will host Oxford High School on Saturday, May 17, at 6:00.
