In
his high school days, Steven Johns played goalie at Clarkston. Today,
Clarkston is ranked #4 in the state of Michigan. On Saturday, Steven
Johns led his Maroons to the east side of the state to take on
Clarkston, who is led by the same coach that Johns had when he played
there.
Holland
Christian was able to keep up with Clarkston for the majority of the
first half. After the first quarter, Holland Christian was down 5-3.
The Maroons added three more goals in the second quarter, making the
halftime score 9-6 in favor of Clarkston.
In
the second half, the lead got out of the reach of the Maroons.
Holland Christian scored two goals in the half, but Clarkston scored
12, making the final score 21-8. Jake Kalkman scored four of the
Holland Christian goals, while Jon Nykamp scored three. Justin
Dykgraaf added the other goal.
Holland
Christian will host the conference tournament, which begins on
Tuesday, May 6.
