Holland Christian
tipped off against Zeeland West on Friday in the district opener at
Allendale. Three-pointers from Eggers, Hyma, and Stygstra gave the
Maroons a 9-5 lead after the first quarter. Matt Maas' seven second
quarter points gave the Maroons a 19-15 advantage at the break.
Hyma's two
three-pointers early in the third quarter sparked a 20-2 run in favor
of Holland Christian. That run eventually turned into a 39-20 lead
heading into the fourth.
The Maroons played
somewhat conservative in the fourth quarter but still finished with a
demanding 49-28 victory.
Matt Maas led the
scoring with 11 points. Tyler Hyma and Bryce Eggers each had nine,
all of which from three-pointers.
This victory breaks
the 1-1 regular season tie between the Maroons and the Dux and, more
importantly, pushes Holland Christian into the district semifinals.
That game will be at and against Allendale on Wednesday at 7:00. The
winner of that semifinal will play against the winner of Hamilton and
Unity for the district championship.
