Holland Christian
played its last game of the regular season on Thursday night at
Covenant Christian. The Chargers found themselves on top 13-8 after
the first quarter. Matt Maas put up ten points and threw down a
monster two-handed slam in the second quarter. The Maroons led 29-21
at halftime and never surrendered that lead for the remainder of the
game.
Holland Christian's
four third quarter three-pointers extended the deficit to 45-28. The
Chargers outscored the Maroons 20-11 in the fourth quarter but the
final score was 56-48 in favor of the visiting team.
The Maroons used
their height to their advantage tonight. 6-foot-6 Matt Maas led the
team with 15 points, 6-foot-7 Sam VanderSluis had 11, and 6-foot-6
Kyle Wassink had eight.
With tonight's
victory the team improves to 14-6 heading into next week's district
tournament. All games will be played at Allendale. The Maroons will
open the tournament on Monday against Zeeland West, a team that HC
has both lost to and defeated this season. For all information about
the postseason schedule see the official MHSAA website.
