Holland Christian returned to the Civic
Center on Tuesday to host the Zeeland West Dux. The Maroons started
the game off strong, outscoring the Dux 20-14 in the first quarter.
Holland Christian was limited to only six points in the 2nd
quarter, but their 6 first half three-pointers led them to a 26-25
lead over the Dux at halftime.
Sam VanderSluis tallied 11 points in
the third quarter for the Maroons, sending them into the final
quarter with a 41-37 lead. In the fourth quarter, the Dux were able
to come back and tie the game at 46-46 with just a couple minutes
remaining. However, the Maroons' 18 fourth quarter points propelled
them to a 59-53 victory. The leading scorers for Holland Christian
were Kyle Steigenga and Sam Vandersluis; each contributing 17 points.
With tonight's win, Holland Christian's season record improves to
4-2. Holland Christian's next game will be played at Hamilton on
Friday, January 17, and will begin at 7:30.
