It
was a perfect afternoon for lacrosse on Saturday as the Maroons took
on the Panthers of West Ottawa. Jake Kalkman scored a goal for the
Maroons in the first quarter, but West Ottawa answered with four
goals, giving them a 4-1 lead after the first quarter. Luke Harbottle
and Ty Steggerda both scored in the second, making the halftime score
4-3 in favor of West Ottawa.
Jake
Kalkman opened the second half scoring with his second goal of the
game. West Ottawa, however, scored three goals in the final three
minutes of the quarter, giving the Panthers the 7-4 advantage heading
into the fourth quarter. Justin Dykgraaf, Jon Nykamp, and Luke
Harbottle all scored in the fourth quarter, but West Ottawa also
scored three goals. The game came to a close with West Ottawa on top
10-7. Holland Christian will be back in action on Tuesday, April 22,
as they host Grand Rapids Catholic Central.
