After dropping both games of the
doubleheader against Hamilton, the Maroons hosted the Hawkeyes in the
teams' third matchup of the week. Hamilton took a 2-0 lead early in
the game. In the second inning, Josh York doubled in fellow sophomore
David Williams from second base. In the third inning, Williams
singled with the bases loaded, tying the game up at 2-2. The Maroons
took the lead on the very next play, however, when Landon Brower
crossed the plate due to a Hamilton error. The Maroons broke open the
score in the fifth inning. Mike Mokma scored Nate DeZwaan by hitting
a double to deep centerfield. Dan Lynch and Casey Meyaard each hit an
RBI single in the fifth inning. Josh Sterenberg closed the inning
with a 2 RBI double.
Josh York earned himself the Win by
striking out 7 and giving up 0 earned runs. Offensively, eight
different batters got a hit, and 6 different batters earned an RBI.
The Maroons improve to 5-4 on the season. Holland Christian will host
