The
Holland Christian Maroons began their postseason on Friday, as they
traveled for an all-day tournament at Allegan High School. There were
a total of nine schools involved in friday's tournament. Throughout
the course of the day, the Maroons were fighting with the home team
for first place. Allegan and Holland Christian split the singles
flights. After Allegan won the 1st and 2nd
singles, Holland Christian fought back to win the 3rd and
4th singles flights. Senior Sarah Seabolt stood out in her
performance, as she won her two sets 6-0 and 6-1. The doubles flight
was also split evenly between Holland Christian and Allegan. Hope
Frieling and Elle Memberto won their 3rd doubles flight,
which put Holland Christian only one flight
win away from getting 1st
place. 4th
doubles of Lisa Busscher and Anna Bosgraaf ended up coming through
for Holland Christian. In the end, Holland Christian and Allegan tied
for 1st
place, as they both had 28 points. Coming in third place was Hamilton
High School, with 12 points. The Holland Christian Maroons will be
heading to the State Tournament over the weekend of May 31-June 1 for
the MHSAA division three state tournament, which is being held at
Holland Christian and Hope College this year.
