Holland Christian continued their season on Friday night against
their conference rival of Unity Christian. The first three quarters
were very evenly matched, as the teams were never more than six
points away from each other. The first quarter ended with a score of
11-9. After two quarters, the score was knotted up at 22-22. Max
Wierda and Sam VanderSluis each scored 6 points in the third quarter,
making the score 36-36 after the third quarter. In the fourth
quarter, Holland Christian quickly began to develop a lead. Kyle
Steigenga scored 13 points for the Maroons in the fourth quarter,
sealing the 61-53 victory. Leading the scoring for Holland Christian
was Kyle Steigenga with a personal season-high 25 points. Sam
VanderSluis scored 15, while Justin Dykgraaf and Max Wierda each
contributed 8. Collectively, Holland Christian shot 91% from inside
the arc. With tonight's win, the Maroons' win streak extends to 6
games, and their overall record improves to 9-2. Holland Christian's
next game will be played at Zeeland West on Tuesday, February 4, at
7:00.
