Holland
Christian hosted Coopersville on Thursday for its last home game of
the regular season. Before the game, Spencer Slenk was honored as the
only senior of the team. Spencer has shown his leadership on the team
both on and off the field.
Thomas
Leuschner got the Maroons on the board with an RBI double in the
second inning. Mike Mokma drove in the second run with a base hit up
the middle.
Holland
Christian was down 5-2 after four innings.
Mike
Mokma had his second RBI single of the day in the fifth inning. In
the next at bat, David Williams found the left side of the infield
and drove in another run. After a sacrifice fly and a sacrifice
suicide squeeze bunt, the Maroons found themselves on top 6-5 after
five.
David
Williams drove in a few insurance runs in the sixth inning with a
two-RBI double to the right-center gap.
Holland
Christian had 14 hits while Coopersville only had four. Williams and
Riemersma had three hits apiece. Thomas Leuschner also had a great
day with a couple base hits. Josh Sterenberg pitched the final 3.1
innings, gave up zero hits, and earned the win.
Holland
Christian will participate in the Sentinel Tournament this weekend.
The first game is at Saugatuck and Saturday's games depend on the
result of Friday's game.
